The second print run of Magic the Gathering was called Beta. It consisted of 7.8 million cards. It was released in October 1993 and sold out by December 1993. Seven new cards were added to the set, bringing the total set size to 302 cards. The cards were one new picture of each basic land (5), Circle of protection: Black and Volcanic Island. The black bordered set is differentiated from Alpha in that Beta cards have the current corner radius whereas Alpha has much more rounded corners. The distribution of the Beta set is 117 rares, 95 uncommons, 75 commons and 15 lands. |
